About Me
Hello,
I'm Ylonda Rosenthal-Greene. In addition to being a wife and a mother to three beautiful children, I'm also a classically trained cellist and yoga teacher. My 20+ year career as a performing musician started as a teen. First by attending Chautauqua Summer Music Institute, followed by a BA from Cleveland State University, which lead to several more years of study with members of the Cleveland Orchestra. In 2002, after having my first child, I was able to continue with my passion for music and worked as a private cello teacher. In 2009, after the birth of my third child, I attended my first yoga class. That hour of class provided me time for a little, much needed, self love. From that very first class, I knew I wanted to teach. It didn't take long for me to realize that yoga moved me in the same profound way as music. After one year, I enrolled in my first 200 Hour teacher training, followed shortly after by 300 and 500 Hour trainings.
Through my studies of yoga, I fell in love with many of the traditional aspects of the practice and its philosophies. In 2014, I set out on a soul searching journey to India. It was on this trip that Awake to My Soul was born. It was also on this trip that I discovered how to combine music and art into my yoga teaching. By using a number of instruments for sound meditations, combined with my voice and vinyasa yoga, my class is geared toward finding fluidity in the body and harmonizing strength and flexibility. While certain aspects of my class are traditional, others are a more modern reflection of myself.
I do my best to live my life with love and compassion through music and yoga. My purpose is to help as many people, regardless of skin color, gender, religion or sexual orientation, see their self-worth, greatness and strength. My hope is that, by sharing my gifts, I can help others embrace and share their own.
